ECONOMIC IMMIGRATION

EXPRESS ENTRY

The Express Entry system manages applications for three federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. It is Canada’s main pathway to permanent residence for skilled workers.

Candidates create an online profile and are assessed using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which assigns points based on factors such as: age, education, work experience, language ability, and other qualifications. Applicants with the highest scores may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence during regular selection rounds conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Depending on your profile, additional points may be awarded for factors such as a provincial nomination. Candidates in the Express Entry Pool can be nominated by one of the Canadian provinces and be invited to apply for permanent residency.

At MGiaccari Immigration Consulting, we can assist you with assessing your eligibility, preparing your Express Entry profile, reviewing supporting documents, and guiding you through the permanent residence application process once an invitation is received.

Federal Skilled Workers (FSW):

The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program is designed for individuals with skilled work experience who wish to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents through the Express Entry system. Candidates are evaluated based on several selection factors, including their education, professional experience, language proficiency, and other criteria established by the program.

To be eligible, applicants must have at least one year of continuous paid full-time work experience (or the equivalent of 1,560 hours) obtained within the last 10 years in an occupation classified under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). This work experience may be gained either in Canada or abroad, and applicants must also meet the program’s minimum eligibility requirements.

To qualify under FSW, you must score at least 67/100 on the selection factors (which is separate from the CRS calculation)

Federal Skilled Trades (FST):

The Federal Skilled Trades (FST) Program is designed for individuals with experience in skilled trades who want to obtain permanent residence in Canada through Express Entry. Candidates are evaluated based on their trade experience, language skills, and whether they meet the program requirements.

You must have at least two years of full-time paid work experience (or 3,120 hours total) in a qualifying trade within the past five years. You also need to meet the requirements of your occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC). In addition, applicants must either hold a valid job offer for at least one year in Canada or a certificate of qualification issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC):

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is a pathway to permanent residence under the Express Entry system for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada. It is intended for candidates who are already familiar with the Canadian labour market and can successfully integrate into the workforce.

To be eligible, you must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada (or 1,560 hours total) within the last three years, in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation. This experience must have been obtained while you were legally authorized to work in Canada. You must also meet the required language proficiency levels (CLB/NCLC 7 for TEER 0–1 and CLB/NCLC 5 for TEER 2–3)

PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate candidates who have the skills, education, and work experience needed to support their local economies. Nominees must intend to live in the province or territory that selects them and plan to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Each province and territory sets its own eligibility requirements and determines the number of people it can nominate each year.

SELF-EMPLOYED PERSONS

This permanent residence program is for individuals who are self-employed, with relevant experience in cultural activities or athletic at a world-class level and who meet the programs selection criteria.

(This program is currently paused until further notice)

START-UP VISA
